It first entered the marketplace (with any kind of success) in 1998 via GoTo.com, which was the fore bearer to Yahoo! Search Marketing (now in a long-term contract to utilize the Bing Ads interface) and an inspiration for today’s largest paid search provider, Google AdWords.
